Newman University and the Gerber Institute present the keynote speaker for the 19th Annual Lit Fest: “Magic Happens: A Celebration of Harry Potter”. Travis Prinzi will be speaking on Saving Dumbledore: Moral Imagination and Forgiveness in Harry Potter’s Death.
Travis Prinzi is an author and speaker on the intersection of fantasy and politics, myth and culture in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter novels. John Granger, the ‘Hogwarts Professor,‘ has said, “There is no more insightful commenter on the Harry Potter novels than Travis Prinzi.”
Has been a featured speaker and led panel discussions at multiple Harry Potter conferences and has lectured on everything from Harry Potter to religion to education to hit TV shows like The Office at university campuses and libraries in the United States and Canada. He authored Harry Potter and Imagination a year after the final novel was released. He collects and edits the best in Harry Potter scholarship, having edited multiple volumes, including Hog’s Head Conversations and
Harry Potter for Nerds volumes 1 and 2.
Prinzi holds graduate degrees in education and theology from the University of Rochester and Northeastern Seminary, and he’s done graduate work in Family Therapy at the University of Rochester. In his Muggle life, he maps people’s hearts when they’re not beating properly. He lives in wine country in the Finger Lakes with his wife Tyanna, daughters Sophia and Lily, sons Jack and Ethan, and their dogs Casper and Stella.
